There are only two hospital-affiliated birth centers in MA and one is about to close - apparently the victim of rising malpractice rates.
Regular readers know I’m a bring-on-the-epidural-then-lounge-in-a-cosy bed-with-lots-of pillows-and-access-to-advanced-medical-care kind of birth mother but to each his own if you’re going to go with natural birth a hospital-affiliated birth center seems to be the best of all possible options - a cosy little birthing world just a hop, skip and a jump from a hospital.
Apparently quite a few moms agree because there’s a little protest brewing over the potential closing of the North Shore Birth Center - a Facebook page is swamped with comments and moms are out waving signs.
